    Someone went to the Paul Valery Museum but doesn’t feel the need to admit it on their blog.

      Actually I didn’t visit the museum, but went to the cemetery, as a blog of a few days earlier shows. Did want to see the place of that poem — not one I care much about, in fact. While looking at the cemetery what came to mind was a sentence by Paul Celan, who, when asked why he had translated that poem into German when he didn’t much care for Valéry, replied: “Because doing the translation gives me the right to criticize the poem.”
