Pierre Joris—poet, editor, translator, literary scholar, essayist, and blogger—has published more than 40 books, contributed to countless magazines, and lived in North Africa, France, Britain and the United States since leaving Luxembourg at the age of 18. His comfort in three languages and his interests in science, society, literature, politics and the borders of things are reflected in his Nomadics blog (pierrejoris.com/blog/). Justifying the Margins (2009) is his most recent prose collection.
Sanjay Agnihotri has just completed his first novel, drawn from experiences as an expatriate American teenager in Saudi Arabia in the 1980s, where his Indian-born father worked as an engineer. He lives in New Jersey and is the publisher of a lovely small magazine, Local Knowledge, which features art, essays, prose and poetry.
* * * The reading takes place in the welcoming backroom of the Sidewalk Café, famed for really great hamburgers, plus vegetarian fare (mmm, panini!) and all beverages. * * *
