Maghrebi Lunch Break
First somewhat sunny day in Paris was two days ago, and so Habib Tengour and I went out to Ménilmontant to meet up with some friends at a Kabyle restaurant for lunch. Though we ate inside, we quickly moved to the terrace afterward for coffee and the little sun that was just beginning to break through. Much pleasant and intense talk — as nearly always with Algerians, there are long discussions about history, especially right now as all of a sudden many personal narratives of the days — years, in fact — of the national War of Independence are being published for the first time in Algeria.
