Lost in Translation

The English is clear enough to lorry drivers – but the Welsh reads “I am not in the office at the moment. Send any work to be translated.”

    Pierre. Your readers might be interested in knowing that 40 years ago in Wales, when it was illegal to have any signs not in English, and people from the Welsh Language Society, activist wing of Plaid Cymru (the Welsh Nationalist Party), crossed out or uprooted signs to replace them with Welsh language ones, and were arrested and brought into Court, so many Welsh magistrates threw the cases out that the law had to be changed.
