Why: To support Archipelago Books, a not-for-profit press, in its mission to publish outstanding and overlooked works of international literature.

What: Silent and live auction, with refreshments.

Naipaul, Louis de Bernières, John Richardson, Russell Banks, Lynne Sharon Schwartz, Louis Begley, and Elias Khoury, among others; limited edition broadsides by John Ashbery, Czesław Miłosz, Michael Palmer, Robert Haas, and Paul Bowles;
