Allen Fisher in Hereford

Wish I could visit Hereford this month:

Seven paintings by Allen Fisher
on show in three locations in Hereford city centre during January and February.

There are three oil-on-canvas paintings at the Hereford Museum and Gallery, two at the Apple Store Gallery and two large water-colours exhibited at the Castle Pool Hotel on behalf of the Apple Store Gallery. [See Hereford centre map with sites marked on www.allenfisher.co.uk]

The paintings will be the first showings of a major project, Engaged Embrace, work derived from still-life studies of rural traps and carpenters’ tools.

Traps and tools have been key themes in Allen Fisher’s work for two decades and their shapes provide the formal starting points in the paintings of Engaged Embrace. Familiar objects are transformed through vibrant colour and the incorporation of studies of moving human figures and urban landscapes. The paintings celebrate patterns of connectedness between the figurative and conceptual in art.

Further work from Engaged Embrace will be exhibited in October 2013 at the Apple Store Gallery.
