I cannot comment on the children. It is too heart breaking and I find the continual media coverage to be somewhat goulish. It is a ratings winner. I will not, however, even in this small way, add to it. Others may disagree but thats democracy.
As we note with some regularity around the world, democracies are a long time developing. America itself birthed slowly arriving as it did with a constitution and a Bill of Rights that allowed slavery and no votes for women or blacks. It also allowed every wanker with a musket to fire away on the off chance a militia might be needed. Mind you it takes a great deal more time to reload a musket than it does an a assault weapon with a 100 round clip. This was clearly not in the minds of the Founding Fathers. I mean if they could not foresee a country without slavery and voting rights for all it’s citizens then how could they get their combined heads around the potential for an Oozi?
“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Your Supreme Court, in 2008 and 2010, issued two landmark decisions concerning the Second Amendment. The Court ruled that the Second Amendment, as stated above, protects an individual’s right to possess a firearm, unconnected to service in a militia and to use that firearm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. The point is you may be hundreds of years away from re-amending the 2nd amendment, if ever. Until then the pictured cited will remain a conversation piece or an amusing piece of art. Either way, you better duck. That guy over there is carrying!
