My best music/poetry experience over these last weeks has been listening and listening again to the new Music by Jackson Mac Low and Anne Tardos cd, consisting of pieces recorded live at Roulette in NYC on 18 November 1999. The musicians are Andrew Bolotowsky (flutes), Mary Hurlbut (soprano), Theresa Salomon (violin) and Jackson and Anne (voices.) It includes two moving homages to poet Armand Schwerner (which sent me back for a couple hours to read in Armand’s work, — some Tablets, of course, but also some of the later poems & Dante translations — and, wow!, great work it is, and so unjustifiably neglected these days), as well as one of Jackson Mac Low’s best “Merzgedicht in memoriam of Kurt Schwitters.” For more details on how to buy the cd and to listen to extracts, click here.
