Eshleman's Vallejo & Reading
On November 14th, at 6 PM, at the Cervantes Institute (211-215 East 49th St.)
Clayton Eshleman
will read from his translation of
The Complete Poetry of Cesar Vallejo
with a Foreword by Mario Vargas Llosa, which is being published in December by University of California Press. Eshleman will be joined by the Mexican poet, translator, and editor,
Monica de la Torre
who will read Vallejo originals. A few advance copies of the 734 page bilingual book may be available for sale at the reading. This is the first time ever that all of the poetry of a great Hispanic figure has been collected in a single volume translated by a sole poet translator. Eshleman has worked on this project, off and on, for over 48 years.
