Literary &amp; Performance Series, the Gold Mine Saloon,\u00a0is an essential\u00a0part of\u00a0the French Quarter&#8217;s\u00a0cultural\u00a0tradition\u00a0of Poetry\u00a0&amp; Jazz\u00a0reaching back\u00a0over FIFTY YEARS.\u00a0In\u00a0an\u00a0earlier period,\u00a0at\u00a0the very same location (705 Dauphine Street),\u00a0the establishment\u00a0was\u00a0called\u00a0The Tunnel Bar.\u00a0One of the more memorable\u00a0JAZZ POETRY\u00a0sessions\u00a0took place\u00a0at 3:00pm,\u00a0Sunday, December 21,\u00a01958. Literary &amp; Performance Series\u00a0is a\u00a0vital\u00a0center for poets, artists\u00a0and\u00a0musicians\u00a0to share\u00a0their works in\u00a0New Orleans community,<a title=\"http:\/\/www.17poets.com\/\" href=\"http:\/\/www.17poets.com\/\">www.17poets.com<\/a>.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">We are\u00a0entering\u00a0the eighth year of\u00a0the program.
