We, Syrian writers, endorsing the previous call that our friends the filmmakers addressed to their colleagues in the world, are addressing this call for solidarity to writers, poets, and literary critics across the world.<\/p>\n
Peaceful Syrian citizens are being killed today for demanding to have their basic human rights and liberties.<\/p>\n
It is the same oppressive and corrupt regime that has kept Syrians prisoners for decades and denied them their freedom and dignity that is destroying their lives and dreams today.<\/p>\n
We believe that reform, which does not put an end to security forces’ control over Syrian people\u2019s lives, which does not bring an era of shameful political imprisonment to a closure , and which does not release all political prisoners, is not possible.<\/p>\n
Hereby, we call on all writers across the world to denounce the killing of peaceful Syrian civilians, to call for putting a stop to the killing, and to declare their solidarity with the Syrian people and with their dreams of justice, equality and freedom.<\/p>\n
