Kenneth Irby & Pierre Joris<\/span><\/h2>\n

Kenneth Irby<\/strong> was born in Bowie, Texas, in 1936, and grew up in Fort Scott, Kansas.\u00a0 He was educated at the University of Kansas, Harvard University, and the University of California, Berkeley.\u00a0 He has lived, worked, served in the U. S. Army, and taught in New Mexico, Nevada, the North Pacific, Massachusetts, Northern California, New York, Colorado, and Copenhagen.\u00a0 He currently lives in Lawrence, Kansas, and teaches in the Department of English at the University of Kansas.\u00a0 Some recent books include In Denmark<\/em> (in the second issue of No:\u00a0 a journal of the arts<\/em>, 2003); Studies<\/em> (First Intensity Press, 2001); and Ridge to Ridge<\/em> (OtherWind Press, 2001).\u00a0 His The Intent On:\u00a0 Collected Poems 1962-2006<\/em> was published by North Atlantic Books late in 2009. In April 2010 he was the co-recipient (with Eileen Myles) of the Shelley Memorial Award from the Poetry Society of America<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pierre Joris<\/strong> is a poet, translator, essayist & anthologist who has published over forty books, most recently\u00a0Canto Diurno #4: The Tang Extending from the Blade<\/em>, an 2010 Ahadada Books (ebook),\u00a0Justifying the Margins: Essays 1990-2006<\/em> and\u00a0Aljibar I & II<\/em> (poems). Other recent publications include the CD\u00a0Routes, not Roots<\/em> and Meditations on the Stations of Mansour Al-Hallaj 1-21<\/em>. Recent translations include\u00a0Paul Celan: Selections<\/em>, and\u00a0\u00a0Lightduress<\/em> by Paul Celan, which received the 2005 PEN Poetry Translation Award. With Jerome Rothenberg he edited the award-winning anthologies\u00a0Poems for the Millennium (volumes I & II). <\/em>He teaches at the University of Albany, SUNY.
