Below, the opening stanzas of the poem:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>A Braid of Garlic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aging women mourn while they  go to market,<br \/>\nbuy fish, figs, tomatoes, enough today to<br \/>\nfeed the  wolf asleep underneath the table<br \/>\nwho wakes from what dream?<\/p>\n<p>What  but loss comes round with the changing season?<br \/>\nHe is dead, whom,  daring, I called a brother<br \/>\nwith that leftover life perched on his  shoulder<br \/>\ncawing departure.<\/p>\n<p>He made one last roll of the dice.
