For those who have German, there is in interesting article on the magazine in the current issue of <strong>Die Welt<\/strong>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.welt.de\/die-welt\/kultur\/literatur\/article6663387\/Uns-ist-nicht-das-Leben-die-Kunst-Aber-die-Kunst-ist-das-Leben.html\">here<\/a>. Or, to quote <em>l&#8217;incontournable<\/em> Wikipedia:<a title=\"Herwarth Walden\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Herwarth_Walden\"> <\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em><strong>Der Sturm<\/strong><\/em> (<a title=\"German language\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/German_language\">German<\/a>: <em>The Storm<\/em>) was a magazine of <a title=\"Expressionism\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Expressionism\">expressionism<\/a> founded in <a title=\"Berlin\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Berlin\">Berlin<\/a> in 1910 by. Originally running weekly, and then monthly in 1914, it became a quarterly in 1924 until it ceased publication in 1932. Among the literary contributors were <a title=\"Peter Altenberg\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Peter_Altenberg\">Peter Altenberg<\/a>, <a title=\"Max Brod\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Max_Brod\">Max Brod<\/a>, <a title=\"Richard Dehmel\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richard_Dehmel\">Richard Dehmel<\/a>, <a title=\"Anatole France\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anatole_France\">Anatole France<\/a>, <a title=\"Knut Hamsun\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Knut_Hamsun\">Knut Hamsun<\/a>, Arno Holz, <a title=\"Karl Kraus\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Karl_Kraus\">Karl Kraus<\/a>, <a title=\"Selma Lagerl\u00f6f\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Selma_Lagerl%C3%B6f\">Selma Lagerl\u00f6f<\/a>, <a title=\"Adolf Loos\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Adolf_Loos\">Adolf Loos<\/a>, <a title=\"Heinrich Mann\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Heinrich_Mann\">Heinrich Mann<\/a>, <a title=\"Paul Scheerbart\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paul_Scheerbart\">Paul Scheerbart<\/a>, Ren\u00e9 Schickele. <em>Der Sturm<\/em> consisted of pieces such as expressionistic dramas (i.e. from <a title=\"Hermann Essig (page does not exist)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Hermann_Essig&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Hermann Essig<\/a> and <a title=\"August Stramm\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/August_Stramm\">August Stramm<\/a>), artistic portfolios (<a title=\"Oskar Kokoschka\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oskar_Kokoschka\">Oskar Kokoschka<\/a>), essays from artists (the <a title=\"Kandinsky Album (page does not exist)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?title=Kandinsky_Album&amp;action=edit&amp;redlink=1\">Kandinsky Album<\/a>), and theoretical writings on art from <a title=\"Herwarth Walden\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Herwarth_Walden\">Herwarth Walden<\/a>. The most well-known publications resulting from the magazine were the <em>Sturmb\u00fccher<\/em> (storm-books), (e.g. Sturmb\u00fccher 1 and 2 were works of August Stramm \u2013 <em>Sancta Susanna<\/em> und <em>Rudiment\u00e4r<\/em>). Postcards were also created featuring the expressionistic, cubist, and abstract art of <a title=\"Franz Marc\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Franz_Marc\">Franz Marc<\/a>, <a title=\"Wassily Kandinsky\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wassily_Kandinsky\">Wassily Kandinsky<\/a>, <a title=\"Oskar Kokoschka\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oskar_Kokoschka\">Oskar Kokoschka<\/a>, <a title=\"August Macke\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/August_Macke\">August Macke<\/a>, <a title=\"Gabriele M\u00fcnter\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gabriele_M%C3%BCnter\">Gabriele M\u00fcnter<\/a>, <a title=\"Georg Schrimpf\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Georg_Schrimpf\">Georg Schrimpf<\/a>, Maria Uhden, <a title=\"Rudolf Bauer (artist)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rudolf_Bauer_%28artist%29\">Rudolf Bauer<\/a> and others. The term <em>Sturm<\/em> was branded by Walden to represent the way in which modern art was penetrating Germany at the time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Particularly in the time before outbreak of the <a title=\"First World War\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/First_World_War\">World War I<\/a>, <em>Der Sturm<\/em> played a crucial role in the French-German exchange of expressionist artists, which led to a special relationship between <a title=\"Berlin\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Berlin\">Berlin<\/a> and <a title=\"Paris\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paris\">Paris<\/a>. Regularly, poems and other texts of French and\/or French-speaking expressionists were published (<a title=\"Guillaume Apollinaire\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Guillaume_Apollinaire\">Guillaume Apollinaire<\/a>, <a title=\"Blaise Cendrars\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blaise_Cendrars\">Blaise Cendrars<\/a>, etc).
