She is currently confined to a Tel Aviv apartment\u00a0and had her first court hearing this month, charged for Facebook postings and a poem\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=R1qnlN1WUAA\">posted to YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/nadim-nashif\/israel-palestine-social-media_b_9699816.html\">Nadim Nashef of Al-Shabaka<\/a>, \u201cThe Palestinian Prisoners Club, a non-governmental organization dealing with prisoners\u2019 rights, estimates that more than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arab48.com\/%D9%81%D9%84%D8%B3%D8%B7%D9%8A%D9%86%D9%8A%D8%A7%D8%AA\/%D8%A3%D8%AE%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%B1\/2016\/03\/12\/%D8%A7%D8%B9%D8%AA%D9%82%D8%A7%D9%84-150-%D9%81%D9%84%D8%B3%D8%B7%D9%8A%D9%86%D9%8A%D8%A7-%D9%85%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%B3%D9%88%D8%A7-%D8%AD%D8%B1%D9%8A%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AA%D8%B9%D8%A8%D9%8A%D8%B1-%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%89-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%81%D9%8A%D8%B3%D8%A8%D9%88%D9%83\" target=\"_hplink\">150 arrests<\/a> took place between October and February 2016 based on Facebook posts expressing opinions on the uprising.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nashef writes that\u00a0there \u201cis no formal legislation that covers legal action with regard to the accusation of incitement through social media.\u201d So when is a\u00a0creative work\u00a0\u201cincitement\u201d? And what effect does this have in suppressing wider creative and civic activities?\u00a0Activist Yoav Haifawi, in <a href=\"https:\/\/freehaifa.wordpress.com\/2016\/04\/16\/poetic-injustice-free-palestinian-poet-dareen-tatour\/\">writing about Tatour\u2019s first court hearing<\/a>, recounts a scene\u00a0like a political satire, where\u00a0a policeman is translating Tatour\u2019s\u00a0poem into Hebrew.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI\u2019ve never seen the prosecution as obstinate as it has been in Dareen\u2019s case,\u201d attorney Abed\u00a0Fahoum told\u00a0<em>Electronic Intifada<\/em>. \u201cI believe that they aim to use her to intimidate and silence all Palestinians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Here, the poet Tariq al Haydar translates Tatour\u2019s words into English:<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Resist, My People, Resist Them<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Resist, my people, resist them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Jerusalem, I dressed my wounds and breathed my sorrows<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And carried the soul in my palm<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For an Arab Palestine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I will not succumb to the \u201cpeaceful solution,\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Never lower my flags<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Until I evict them from my land.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I cast them aside for a coming time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Resist, my people, resist them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Resist the settler\u2019s robbery<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And follow the caravan of martyrs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shred the disgraceful constitution<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Which imposed degradation and humiliation<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And deterred us from\u00a0restoring justice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They burned blameless children;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As for Hadil, they sniped her in public,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Killed her in broad daylight.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Resist, my people, resist them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Resist the colonialist\u2019s onslaught.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Pay no mind to his agents among us<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Who chain us with the peaceful illusion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Do not fear doubtful tongues;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The truth in your heart is stronger,<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As long as you resist in a land<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That has lived through raids and victory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So Ali called from his grave:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Resist, my rebellious people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Write me as prose on the agarwood;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">My remains have you as a response.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Resist, my people, resist them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Resist, my people, resist them.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>via Arabic Literature (in English) &amp;
