“Follow the Person” \/ Out of the Schools and Into the Archives<\/strong>
\nThe Jack & Stella Kerouac Center for the Public Humanities | Tues March 8<\/p>\n

Founding editor Ammiel Alcalay<\/strong> will discuss the Lost & Found project at the Jack and Stella Kerouac Center for the Public Humanities<\/a> at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell, MA. In addition to being our general editor, Alcalay is a poet, novelist, translator, critic, scholar and activist who teaches at Queens College and The Graduate Center, CUNY. He will speak on the ethos of Lost & Found, highlighting examples of the previously unpublished materials it brings to light. (Including a preview of our forthcoming Gregory Corso chapbook!)<\/p>\n

\nThis group discussion led by Fanny Howe will examine how poetry, social action, and acts of mercy might be developed alongside one another as part of a continuous practice responding to the perilous inequities of contemporary life. (Please RSVP for this one, space is limited and we have readings to circulate in advance.)<\/p>\n

Friday, April 15, 6PM: Living Room: A Gathering on June Jordan\u2019s Life and Work<\/strong>
\nThis collaborative workshop and dialogue will discuss June Jordan\u2019s transformative contributions to Black Studies, literacies, poetics, and solidarity. We will read from Jordan\u2019s various works, provide context on how they emerged, and speak to their relevance today.<\/p>\n

\nFeaturing L&F editor Michael Seth Stewart<\/strong> on the occasion of his new book, Stars Seen in Person:Selected Journals John Wieners (City Lights, 2015) in conversation with painter, writer, Black Mountain College alum Basil King.<\/p>\n
