On Saturday, November 23,\u00a0Poets House,<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in partnership with\u00a0City Lore<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0NY\u2019OC Trobadors<\/a>, hosts a landmark symposium celebrating and bringing the riches of southern French poetry and culture to the American public. The symposium gathers international and local poets, artists, scholars, and performers to share the fascinating history of the region and bring to life the songs of troubadours past and present in the endangered lenga d’\u00f2c (Occitan language). Chef and foodie favorite Ariane Daguin, owner of gourmet purveyor\u00a0D\u2019Artagnan<\/a>, will host a reservation-only Gascon Buffet with a short historic overview of Occitan cuisine and cooking demonstration. The evening will culminate in a music and poetry performance featuring accomplished bicontinental artists\u00a0Joan Franc\u00e9s Tisn\u00e8r<\/a>\u00a0(project director),\u00a0Jakes Aymonino<\/a>, Domenja Lekuona,\u00a0Pierre Joris<\/a>, and\u00a0Nicole Peyrafitte<\/a>. Other presenters include New York University scholars\u00a0Deborah Kapchan<\/a>,\u00a0Sarah Kay<\/a>\u00a0and Richard Sieburth, and director of Fondacion Occit\u00e0nia\u00a0Alem Surre-Garcia<\/a>.<\/div>\n\n\n\n
